Clydesdale Bank was founded in 1838 in Glasgow and has a proud history of innovation and support for Scottish industry and communities. The Bank has over 150 retail branches, a strong personal customer base and a growing business banking capability with 72 Financial Solutions Centres across the UK. Clydesdale Bank employs over 3,700 people in Scotland.
Clydesdale Bank PLC became a member of National Australia Bank Group in 1987.
In 2001, Yorkshire Bank became a part of Clydesdale Bank, although it continues to trade under its own name. In 2008 Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks joined forces to announce the launch of a -new charity partnership initiative with Help the Hospices, supporting over 200 local hospices across the UK. In less than 2 years, staff led initiatives have raised over £900,000 for Help the Hospices.
Clydesdale Bank was named as the ‘Best Mortgage Lender in Scotland’ for the sixth year running in the 2009 Your Mortgage Awards.
