High Level Strategy Group

SFE High Level Strategy Group (HLSG)

The HLSG draws on the experience of a cross section of senior executives to provide leadership and strategic vision for the Financial Services industry in Scotland.  It is currently developing an overarching strategy and vision for the next five years.  To provide research and facilitate the production of the strategy, the HLSG has engaged a standing team for three months.  This is staffed by secondees from industry, academia and the public sector and supported by a team from PwC.

The HLSG is governed by a board of senior SFE members who meet quarterly.

The team comprises:

  • Philip Grant, LBG (Chairman)
  • Barry Connolly, Royal Bank of Scotland (Leader of BSF)
  • Graeme Jones, SFE
  • Jonathan Couto, PwC (HLSG Secretariat and Project Manager for standing team)
  • David Lightbody, Brodies (BSF Secretariat)

Additionally, the HSLG has set up the Business Schools Forum (BSF).

This BSF is led by Barry Connolly from the Royal Bank of Scotland and assisted by Murray Bremner of JP Morgan.  The Group brings together representatives and students of Scotland’s university business schools with senior members of the financial services community.  Working together, the BSF is establishing the necessary links between the industry and academia to match skills with demand in the industry and promote studying and working in Scotland.
