Cloud Security - Briefing with KPMG
Time: 08:30 arrival with a 09:00 start, and 10:30 finish
Venue: KPMG, Saltire Court, 20 Castle Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2EG
SFE is delighted to invite you to a breakfast briefing with KPMG on Cloud Security. The release of the Financial Conduct Authority’s “Guidance for firms outsourcing to the ‘cloud’ and other third-party IT services” last year, opened the door to cloud adoption for many in the financial services industry who were previously reluctant. We now see banks, building societies, asset management firms and insurance companies of all sizes exploring a variety of cloud services.
This session will briefly introduce the common cloud models and their security implications before exploring the real-world implementation of cloud services in the financial services sector. This will include common causes of difficulties, approaches towards mitigating such difficulties and the external sources of guidance and assurance that can help organisations to adopt cloud computing in a risk-managed manner. It’s rarely a question of whether your organisation should adopt cloud: it’s more often a question of where, how and when?
The session will be run by Lee Newcombe, currently lead of KPMG’s Cloud Security Services within the Cyber Security function. He has been working in information security since 1998, with a focus on cloud since 2009 and has spent considerable time working with the major retail banks and large systems integrators. He is also a certified enterprise architect and holds numerous security certifications.
Lee sits on the board of the UK Chapter of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) as Director of Research and Deputy Chair. He is the author of the book “Securing Cloud Services” and is a named contributor to the last two iterations of the well-known CSA security guidance document.
