Fujitsu Executive Discussion Evening seasonal special
Tuesday 15th December
Let me entertain you!
Lessons from the world of television for success in a virtual world
As we close this unique year we would like to invite you to a very special Fujitsu Executive Discussion Evening, where we bring a lighter perspective to the lessons of 2020, as is fitting for the season.
Without doubt, one of the great leaps we’ve all made in 2020 is the one from the physical to the virtual world of human interaction. Driven by necessity, we’ve invited people into our homes and connected with them in a completely new way.
But are we doing it well? How can we truly put our best ‘selves forward in a virtual space? What can we learn from the people who have always engaged from behind a screen about how we can find our voices?
We’ve invited Cally Beaton, media executive, entrepreneur and performer, to host us for a lively hour of conversation and a peek into a world we know and love….but which still holds some mystique for us all. Cally will help us take a lighter look at how we can survive and thrive in a virtual world from the insight she’s gained in decades working at the top of the entertainment industry.
Cally will help us get under the skin of what makes a world-famous TV format, consider the impact of digital services on the television industry and share a story about how a conversation with one of the world’s most famous comedians went on to change her life. As a stand-up comedy act she developed en route, you can expect plenty of humour as we explore this subject together!
More about Cally Beaton...
No stranger to being creative in the face of adversity, Cally Beaton has held senior management positions at some of the biggest media companies in the world, including MTV, ITV and Viacom.
Early in her career she headed an independent television production company that was bought by ITV and went on to find herself the youngest (and only female) member of the board.
She left to set up an award-winning creative consultancy and went on to do a 10-year stint as Senior Vice President at US studio giant, Viacom. There, Cally oversaw a multi-million dollar budget for brands including Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and Paramount; if you want someone to blame for bringing South Park and SpongeBob SquarePants to the world, you need look no further.
Reasons to attend
As the year that wasn’t comes to an end we will all be reflecting on the lessons we’ve learned and the changes we’ve made personally and professionally. In many instances, there’s no going back to the way things were before.
Don’t miss this opportunity to join us for this special seasonal Executive Discussion Evening as we seek to:
• Explore how the world of virtual engagement differs from the physical one
• Consider our attitudes to risk, failure and managing change
• Redefine success and learn to fail better in a virtual world
• Hear stories of reinvention - from thinking big to starting small
• Have some fun as we close a challenging year and reimagine life in 2021
