There is now an entire industry surrounding big data, and the IDC predicts sales of big data, tools applications will grow 50% to $22B by 2019. The finance sector is in unchartered territory to respond to and manage such free-form text content. While most firms tackle the challenge of big data and unstructured content by buying hardware, hiring data scientists, and purchasing powerful analytics, they skip the fundamental step of mastering the data model.
Against Thomson Reuter’s background in data analytics and solutions, Thomson Reuters will discuss key themes in big data, covering topics such as the big data market, evolution of TR text data, linked data solutions, and use case studies and examples of Big, Open, Linked Data (BOLD) solution applications.
The session will be led by Edin Zajmovic, Director of Investment Management business for Thomson Reuters EMEA region. This role involves managing the Business and product strategy for Asset management product lines serving Investment management professionals in the EMEA region. During 2017 Edin will have an increasing focus in leading Thomson Reuters’ efforts toward evolving content & technology solutions that in relation to Big Data in the finance area.
