SFE Breakfast Briefing on The Lobbying Act

Date:     Thursday 26 April 2018

Venue:  Pinsent Masons, Third Floor, Quay 2, 139 Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, EH3 9QG

Scottish Financial Enterprise invites you to attend a breakfast briefing on 26 April with Pinsent Masons LLP looking at the new Lobbying Act. Following the rescheduling of this event due to the inclement weather, we will be one month into the new Act, with this event providing the perfect opportunity to ensure you are both compliant and raise any queries you have in the early stages of implementation.

If you registered to attend the earlier event on 28 February, please re-register for this event as we will not carry over bookings.
The Scottish Lobbying Register came into force from 12 March 2018. This new law will regulate lobbying of Scottish politicians and senior members of the Scottish Government – with sanctions for non-compliance ranging from fines of up to £5,000, to a three-month custodial sentence. Significant reputational damage could also result from non-compliance.
In this seminar, Pinsent Masons Director of Public Policy Andrew Henderson will discuss how you can ensure your organisation is up to speed and compliant with the new legislation. Andrew will explain:
• What activities are covered by the Act – and what the exemptions are
• What registration is required and the detail of information needed for returns
• What internal procedures you will need to implement to ensure compliance with the law
The Scottish Lobbying Registrar Billy McLaren will also be attending to provide an update on the Act and implementation.
This event is kindly hosted by Pinsent Masons LLP.
