Time: 08:30 arrival, with a 09:00 start and a 09:45 finish
Venue: Burness Paull LLP, 50 Lothian Road, Festival Square, Edinburgh, EH3 9WJ
SFE is delighted to invite you to a breakfast briefing with Lord Mervyn King to discuss his new book The End of Alchemy - Money, Banking and the Future of the Global Economy.
The former Governor of the Bank of England argues for fundamental changes to the financial system in order to reduce the risk of a new crisis and proposes revolutionary new concepts to answer the question: are money and banking a form of Alchemy or are they the Achilles’ heel of a modern capitalist economy?
Lord Mervyn King was Governor of the Bank of England from 2003 to 2013, and is currently Professor of Economics and Law at New York University and School Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. Lord King was made a life peer in 2013, and appointed by the Queen a Knight of the Garter in 2014.
Following Lord King’s talk there will be the opportunity to ask questions.
