SFE & Burness Paull webinar - COVID-19 - The opportunities and challenges facing the fintech community

Date: Tuesday 26th May

Time: 1pm - 2pm

With the country, and indeed the world, in the midst of an unprecedented crisis, with uncertainty around the lasting impact of COVID-19 on society and the economy, it is no surprise that many businesses are looking at their short-term future and what they can do to ensure survival.
But we must take a longer term view, and one area where the future remains bright is in Scotland’s vibrant fintech ecosystem. With a reputation for innovation, collaboration and adaptation, there is a real opportunity for the fintech community to take stock of how they can face current challenges and come out stronger. Whether that is embracing a shift in the way consumers are conducting their business and personal transactions to comply with a need for social distancing, to looking at powerful ways to harness vital data to anticipate trends and meet future needs, there is a lot that fintech businesses can be getting on with.
To discuss some of the changes in the industry and what Scottish fintechs can do to help set them up for the future, SFE is partnering with leading commercial law firm Burness Paull who will do a bit of horizon scanning and discuss some of the issues fintech businesses should consider.
Following an introduction from Stephen Ingledew, Chief Executive of Fintech Scotland, Callum Sinclair, Head of Technology, David Goodbrand, Head of Data Privacy and Stuart Murdoch, Head of FS Regulatory will share some of the trends and issues they are seeing in the market right now and give some key pointers to focus on as we head into a new normal.
