Join SFE Young Professionals on Thursday 3 September 10am – 11am for a discussion on politics in a pandemic and the impact on Scotland and the wider UK with guest speakers Michael Crow and Mark Diffley.
Michael Crow is NatWest Group’s Head of Public Affairs, a member of the bank’s Scotland Board and has a strong background in politics and journalism. From 1997 – 1999 Michael was Westminster Correspondent for STV covering the 1997 general election, the devolution referendum and the Scotland Act. Michael returned to Scotland in 1999 to cover the opening and establishment of the Scottish Parliament. He worked as STV's Political Correspondent until 2009 and also presented a number of the station’s programmes, both political and non-political. He then moved to the Conservative Party as Director of Strategy and Communications in Scotland before joining the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2010.
Mark Diffley is a researcher and pollster with over 20 years’ experience. After 10 years as Director of Ipsos MORI in Edinburgh, Mark set up a new business in 2017, delivering research and insight for clients across the public, private and third sectors in Scotland and further afield. Clients include the Scottish Government and other national public bodies, major companies and national and international charities. In his career Mark has provided polling, analysis and commentary of many political events, from elections to the UK and Scottish parliaments to the referendums on Scottish independence and EU membership. He has worked with and advised political parties and campaigns of all persuasions through his career and is a regular media contributor on public opinion and polling.
