Carly Sutherland is responsible for Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Innovation programmes for RBS Personal and Business Banking. Carly manages a portfolio of programmes which span across scaled production solutions and test & learn/proof of concepts across these new technologies, with a focus on delivering outcomes for customers and colleagues across the bank. Carly is also passionate about empowering people across the organisation to understand and engage with new technologies, giving talks & facilitating workshops from ExCo level to graduate cohorts, and supporting areas as diverse as Credit Risk, Legal, and Operations to explore the implications of AI for their businesses and customers.

Carly joined RBS in 2011, and has taken a varied path to reach this role, including a number of roles across regulatory programmes, risk, restructuring, and Digital. Prior to her current role, Carly was a Senior Solution Designer leading on large restructuring programmes, including the Independent Commission on Banking Programme. She also has significant experience building operating models and delivering meaningful change by translating broad strategic vision into specific, tangible steps.
