APRIL 2009 NEWSLETTER

CONTINUITY PLANNING

As the World Health Organisation heightened its alert level over swine flu this week, the Scottish Government (SG) has asked SFE and other representative bodies to draw our members' attention to its advice for businesses. They will update this information as necessary, and SFE will keep you informed. The SG contact, who is keen to have your feedback and is happy to handle any queries, is Joe.Brown@scotland.gsi.gov.uk

Members should also be aware of the UK government's financial sector continuity website, established by HM Treasury, the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority, which also carries up-to-date information and the UK contingency plan.

At this stage the issue is about vigilance, reviewing continuity plans and communication with staff.

EVENTS

Keep an eye, as always, on our website for forthcoming SFE member events. One that may be of interest is a session on competition law in the credit crunch. It is jointly organised with Maclay Murray & Spens and takes place on 27 May in Edinburgh.

The presentation on business opportunities in India by Gerry Grimstone - Chairman of Standard Life and India Champion for UKFI - now takes place on 4 June and is already filling up fast.

SFE IN THE MEDIA

SFE continues to engage with the media to use every opportunity to promote our industry.  Check our SFE in the media web page to see links to recent press and broadcast coverage where it is available. And let us know if you think you have a story SFE could help promote.

OTHER EVENTS

As always, we are happy to carry links to non-SFE events that are relevant to our industry on the website, just email kpensom@sfe.org.uk with details.
