MEMBERS’ SURVEY
SFE regularly receives ad hoc feedback from members on our activities, but we thought the New Year a good time to introduce a more widespread members’ survey. You should have received your email request to complete the form earlier this week. If you did not, please email Kirsty at kpensom.sfe.org.uk.
RESPONDING TO THE EU
Our fund management members will know that we have been campaigning for changes to an important piece of EU legislation – the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive – ahead of a 21 January deadline. Our sector policy group has worked well in drafting proposed amendments, and we were particularly pleased that politicians from across the political spectrum united with us on this issue, with David Whitton MSP choosing to make it the subject of his first member’s debate at the Scottish Parliament. It is worth reading the Official Report.
EVENTS
We are currently working on our 2010 programme of events, so look out for further information coming soon. You can read Owen’s thinking on the year ahead here. Do also check our external events links, where you will see, amongst others seminars, there is a great opportunity to hear John Kay speak about narrow banking and regulatory reform coming up next month.
CAREERS
With continued restructuring in the industry, now is a good time to remind SFE members of our careers centre, which carries a wide range of financial services posts, and includes search facilities for locations and areas of expertise. Employers may also want to check the advantages of using it to advertise a vacancy.
MEDIA
Recent media coverage of SFE includes commentary in the Times and Chartered Banker magazine from Mark Tennant on opportunities in Asia and coverage of Owen discussing the health of the industry in Scotland.
