INNOVATORS 2009

SFE is happy to announce that The Innovators 2009 awards are now open for entry. Promotional information has been sent to key contacts at all of our member companies, emphasising why this year it is more important than ever to demonstrate innovation in our industry. If you like the pop-ups (!) and want more for distribution amongst your teams, or if you haven't got one but want one, please contact Kirsty at kpensom@sfe.org.uk

EU DIRECTIVE

Many of our members will have a view on the EU Alternative Investment Fund Managers draft directive, which came out in April and is due to proceed at some pace, with decision stages planned for the autumn. If you read Owen's blog on the subject you'll see we are in the process of finalising our response, working with SFE's investment managers' policy group. We will publish the paper on the SFE website.

CAREERS

With continued restructuring in the industry, now is a good time to remind SFE members of our careers centre, which carries a wide range of financial services posts, and includes search facilities for locations and areas of expertise. Employers may also want to check the advantages of using it to advertise a vacancy.

SFE IN THE MEDIA

We spoke to a wide range of media in June, with subjects including losses and gains on the jobs front, the reputation of Edinburgh as a global financial centre and our response to the Turner Review.

GOING GREEN

Government-backed Envirowise has produced a free publication with the help of ICAS, amongst others, to help businesses cut costs through environmental accounting.  Check it out, or go to their commerce pages for more information on how the organisation can help you go green.
