DOVER HOUSE RECEPTION
SFE held its annual London reception at Dover House in May, hosted by Secretary of State for Scotland Jim Murphy. We had a strong turnout, with representation from across our diverse industry. John Campbell's speech summarised SFE activity over the last year and some of the challenges ahead.
FiSAB ANNUAL REPORT
John Swinney led the launch of the FiSAB annual report 2008, accompanied by John Campbell and Owen Kelly, on Monday. At a difficult time for the industry, they focused on skills, support for staff in our companies, and the future.
GLOBAL CENTRES STUDY - GIVE YOUR VIEWS
The City of London produces a very successful, biannual Global Financial Centres Index which ranks the competitiveness of financial centres. It is based on a regular survey of industry figures from around the world, combined with existing indices. SFE and our members have been invited to contribute to the sixth edition (GFCI 6) of the survey which will be published in September.
The survey should take less than five minutes to complete. Answers will be kept confidential and there is no requirement to fill in any personal information unless you would like to be sent a copy of the report.
SFE encourages you to take part - we'd like to ensure a good balance of opinion from across Scotland. GFCI 6 will be particularly interesting as it will track how perceptions of financial centre competitiveness have changed during the current crisis in financial markets.
SFE IN THE MEDIA
Our recent media coverage included the launch of the FiSAB annual report for 2008; comment from Owen in a Times pull-out on devolution; coverage of John Campbell's speech at our London reception, and a good profile piece of member company FST Technologies. Check our SFE in the media web page to see links to recent press and broadcast coverage. And let us know if you think you have a story SFE could help promote.
