SFE NEWSLETTER
INNOVATORS SHORTLIST
Members will be very aware that SFE, in association with Ernst & Young, holds the annual Innovators Awards this week. With only days to go until the winners are announced, today's Scotsman carries an article on the short listed entries.
Look out for more information on the winners and the event on our website from Friday.
RBS EVENT
Our next member-only business briefing is with Robert Gardner, senior economics adviser at RBS, and is on Thursday 4th December in Edinburgh.
Robert leads the macroeconomics team at RBS's headquarters, and will discuss the outlook for the global economy with emphasis on the UK. Robert's primary focus is on the UK economy, but he has also held responsibility for the United States and the major Eurozone economies during his six years at RBS.
The event is free. As a topical subject, from a major institution, spaces are limited, but booking is still open. To book or find our more check here.
LORD LEVENE SPEECH
Lord Levene of Lloyds was guest speaker at a recent SFE business briefing and a copy of his speech is available now. The question and answer session that followed was also fascinating, and some of the flavour of it is captured in a profile which ran in Scotland on Sunday just after the event.
IMAGES PROJECT
A number of our members took part in a photography project run by SFE and Scottish Enterprise, which created an image bank of photographs of the industry. For those who took part, and for other interested parties, you can now access the images and register on the website at: www.scotlandistheplace.com/infoexchange
OTHER EVENTS
While we trust members use the RSS feed to keep up-to-date with SFE events on our website, we are always happy to highlight links to non-SFE events that may be of interest. Check here to see the latest list, and email us at info@sfe.org.uk if you have an item you'd like us to feature.
SFE IN THE MEDIA
The last month has been understandably a busy one for SFE. Owen undertook numerous media interviews on issues related to the global economic downturn and its impact on Scotland. There was particular interest on Edinburgh and its position as a global financial centre. SFE also featured strongly in the Financial Times focus on Scotland. Owen is also one of a number of signatories to a letter supporting a third runway at Heathrow that appeared in today's Herald.
