Welcome to SFE's first enewsletter, part of a more general updating of our website, which we hope you find more interactive and informative. The newsletter highlights events and activities that are taking place both here at SFE and in the wider financial services world, with links to more detailed material published elsewhere. We hope you find it useful, and if you have something you'd like us to feature, please let us know.
WHO'S WHO AT SFE
Chief executive Owen Kelly has made some changes to staff roles in recent months. Mary Mowat joined SFE as communications manager in the spring, handling our public relations activity. Jensen Wood has changed his role in the organisation, taking up the new post of operations manager, in which he manages the SFE membership, sponsorship and, with May Houston, events. May is also PA to the chief executive, and Michelle Sandilands has recently joined SFE as office administrator.

SECTOR POLICY GROUPS
Our policy agenda is set by our sector policy groups, where members come together to discuss the issues and opportunities for their respective sectors. We currently have sector policy groups for banks and building societies; insurance, life and pensions; investment management; professional services; corporate finance and broking and asset servicing. Each is chaired by an SFE Board member and supported by a secondee from one of our professional services members. More details on our sector policy group pages.
SFE EVENTS
Our membership-only business briefings are proving to be a highly popular addition to the SFE calendar, with requests to attend often outstripping places. Recent sessions included a presentation on recruitment and international talent from Harvey Nash' s Albert Ellis; an update from Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England, and a look at how technology is changing the way we manage our money, from Logica. We aim to put more information about events on our website in future, and look out for updates to our forward programme. Look out for our future events.

THE INNOVATORS 2008
Members should all be aware that the Innovators 2008 is now open for entries. This annual Innovators awards are a great way of showcasing your company, and of demonstrating the creativity and business development skills of Scotland's financial services industry. SFE IN THE MEDIA
At a time of increased scrutiny of our industry, SFE continues to take an active and supportive role in the media. Coverage in August included interviews with Owen Kelly on Scottish Television news and Newsnight Scotland, and commentary in the Times. The Sunday Herald also carried an interview and commentary piece.
