Forthcoming Edinburgh Events in Financial Risk

SFRA is aware of a number of events which will offer stimulating coverage of themes and topics of interest to the financial risk community. We are pleased to provide details and points of contact below.

PRMIA Event on Risk Modelling 24 May 2012
The local chapter of PRMIA, the association of professional risk managers, will host its latest event in Edinburgh on 24 May, commencing at 5pm. The event is hosted in partnership with the University of Edinburgh Business School. The theme of Model Risk will be explored, featuring a panel session of industry experts, to be followed by networking with risk practitioners and academics. The event is free and open to non-PRMIA members, and pre-registration is requested to ensure a place.

The Credit Crisis Five Years On: Unpacking the Crisis 8 - 9 June 2012
A two-day workshop on the Credit Crisis will be held on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 June at the Chrystal Macmillan Building, George Square, Edinburgh. The event will look at current perspectives on the financial crisis which began to unfold in 2007, and features a number of distinguished speakers, including Andrew Haldane of the Bank of England. Pre-registration is requested; attendees may elect to attend one or both days of the event.

Sovereign Wealth: The Edinburgh Dialogue 12 June 2012
The Edinburgh Dialogue will be held on 12 June at the University of Edinburgh Business School. The recent evolution of global capital markets has been dramatic and, as new capital flows emerge, the key question remains of the future role and scope of sovereign wealth and national reserve portfolios - both in terms of return on assets and foreign direct investment. Drawing a range of senior speakers from all sides of the equation, the Edinburgh Dialogue will focus on Strategies for National Reserve Portfolio Management.

Scottish Business in the Community Awards 2012

Rewarding innovation and inspiration in responsible business in Scotland

Scottish Business in the Community is now accepting entries for the SBC Awards 2012. The awards celebrate companies who are delivering successful responsible business programmes at local, national and international levels.

SBC Awards 2012 are held in association with the national UK Awards for Excellence Scotland and are judged by business. Categories include Large Company of the Year, SME of the Year, and Volunteer and Volunteering Team of the Year. New categories this year include SBC Small Medium Enterprise Tackling Poverty Award and SBC Social Enterprise Tackling Poverty Impact Award, which were introduced following the success of SBC's new Growing Business, Flourishing Communities programme.
