EXPERT COMMENT ON CHINA

March 19, 2009

We were lucky enough to hear some expert comment on China and the financial challenges it faces from Stuart Leckie OBE, at an event for our members last Monday. He ranged as widely, and with as much authority, as anyone I have seen speaking on this most dense and far reaching of topics. His slides are here. His answers to questions were subtle and, again, authoritative. He was asked about corruption, China's self sufficiency in food (when he made some telling points about the challenges facing China regarding water supply), what next for the QDII arrangements and the distribution channels for investment and insurance products. We were really pleased to collaborate on this event with the China Britain Business Council and Scottish Development International. Indeed, Stuart is a member of the Globalscot network, run by SDI, which is made up of senior business people worldwide with an affinity for Scotland and a commitment to supporting its continued economic success.
