Scotland’s financial services industry is showing real resilience in the face of the current difficult economic and market conditions. The latest industry survey from Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) and Capgemini shows that SFE member companies remain confident about their prospects during the final quarter of 2007 and into 2008.

SFE appoints new chief executive
Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) has today announced the appointment of Mr Owen Kelly as its new Chief Executive. Mr Kelly is currently Director of Communications at the Scottish Government and will take up his new role on 14th January 2008.

SFE strengthens board with two new appointments
Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE), the independent body for Scotland’s financial services industry, has further strengthened its board of directors with two appointments. Hywel Ball, Ernst & Young’s Managing Partner for Scotland, and Adrian Grace, Managing Director of Bank of Scotland’s Corporate Division, join the board which now comprises ten senior figures from across the industry.

The latest industry survey from Scottish Financial Enterprise shows that 42 per cent of responding companies expect their business prospects to improve in Q3 2007 while 55 per cent are confident in the year ahead.

SFE annouces departure of Chief Executive
It is with regret that Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) announces the resignation of Chief Executive, Andrew Silverman due to unforeseen ill health with effect from 31 July 2007. SFE wishes Mr Silverman well for the future and will now begin the search for a new Chief Executive.

Increase in business volumes for fifth successive quarter underlines confidence of Scotland's financial services industry
The latest Quarterly Survey from Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) and Capgemini shows that a majority of companies within Scotland’s financial services industry reported increased business for the fifth consecutive quarter. The survey shows that in Q2 2006 61% of companies increased business volumes and nearly half reported a rise in employee numbers. However, statutory legislation and regulation has become a much greater concern for businesses.
