Applications for PRIME work placements now open for secondary school students
Brodies LLP is looking for secondary school students who are interested in a career in law to take part in summer work placements at its offices through the PRIME project.
Students who are starting S5 and S6 during the 2018/19 academic year can apply to PRIME, a pioneering initiative set up by the UK's leading law firms to encourage greater diversity in the legal profession by offering quality work experience and continuing support to young people from less privileged backgrounds.
The programme offers young people a minimum of 30–35 hours of work experience and is designed to give them an insight into all aspects of business, including law and professional support services, such as IT, finance, HR and marketing.
Applicants must be entitled to free school meals or be the first in their family to go to university.
Kirstie Maclennan said: “As a founding member of PRIME, Brodies is committed to giving students the opportunity to take part in a structured work experience programme that is co-ordinated and delivered by our staff, representing departments across our business.
“The PRIME programme has been an incredible success; so far we’ve seen a number of students who have spent time working at our offices go on to study law at university. In 2017, we worked with 30 students across our Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen offices and we’re looking forward to taking on more placements this year to give young people hands-on experience of what it’s like to work in our business and the legal sector.”
Placements in the Edinburgh office at Atholl Crescent will take place from Monday 11 June to Friday 15 June, while those in the Glasgow office in Queen Street will be held from Monday 18 June to Friday 22 June.
Applications for the Aberdeen office work placements will open 3 September 2018.
To apply, fill in and submit the questionnaire by Friday 18th May 2018.
Successful students will be contacted directly.
