Scottish Building Society joins Scottish Financial Enterprise

Scottish Building Society has today (Friday, September 20) announced it has joined the influential industry group that supports Scotland’s crucial financial services sector.

The Society joins a diverse range of businesses at Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) including banks, asset managers, professional services and FinTechs.

SFE drives promotion and collaboration among a membership which employs more than 160,000 in Scotland.

Paul Denton, Scottish Building Society’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to join such a prestigious organisation that has deep roots in Scotland’s financial sector.”

With 33,000 members, the Scottish Building Society is the world’s oldest mutual member-owned society, having celebrated its 170th birthday last year.

Graeme Jones, Chief Executive, Scottish Financial Enterprise, said: “We are thrilled to welcome the Scottish Building Society to our immense membership and know they will benefit greatly from the support, influence and promotion the Scottish Financial Enterprise offers its members.”

The Scottish Financial Enterprise is a company limited by guarantee. Its agenda is determined by its member companies and overseen by its board of directors. Each of the main sectors of the financial services industry in Scotland is represented on the SFE board.

Scottish Building Society has raised its profile through sponsorship of the Scottish Women’s Premier League and has seen a fifth consecutive year of mortgage book growth with pre-tax profits ahead of plan to £1.03million.
