Scottish Financial Services Awards – We will soon be kicking off our search for candidates for the 2017 SFS Awards sponsored by EY.  This year we will be introducing a new category to recognise a rising star.  Details will be available soon at Scottish Financial Services Awards.

Farewell May! – Many of you will already be aware that May Houston, PA to the Chief Executive, is leaving SFE after 30 years.  A huge achievement and for many of you May has been SFE. May will be hugely missed by staff and members alike and we all wish her a very enjoyable and well deserved retirement.

Cloud Security – Thanks to KPMG who recently provided an insight into common cloud models and their security implications, at an SFE Breakfast Briefing.

A New Way to Build a Bank – Thanks to both Sopra Steria and Pinsent Masons LLP for their support with our member event looking at the challenges and opportunities faced by organisations of all shapes and sizes as they position themselves for a data-driven future.


How Data can be used to strengthen the Three Lines of Defence - 27 April.  This breakfast briefing, led by Dufrain, will examine how data can be used to strengthen the “Three Lines of Defence” when ensuring the effectiveness of an organisation’s risk management framework.  Register to attend.

Scotland House - Scottish Enterprise will open a flexible home-from-home workspace in April 2017 in London.  The hub will have high quality facilities, a central location and competitive membership rates.  Details are available at Scottish Enterprise.

Art & Business - A pioneering new fund that promotes collaboration between Scottish businesses and arts and heritage organisations has been officially launched. Funded by the Scottish Government via Creative Scotland and Historic Environment Scotland, the new Culture & Business Fund Scotland is managed by Arts & Business Scotland and aims to encourage greater partnership working between business, arts and heritage by match funding private sector sponsorship of arts and heritage activities pound for pound.  Further details are available at Arts & Business Scotland


FinTech Strategic Initiative – this initiative has been up and running for a year with huge support and involvement from across the SFE membership and beyond.  The structure of the group has evolved to meet the demands of this fast changing area.  Further details can be found at FinTech.

High Level Strategy Group – The Group is currently developing an overarching strategy and vision for financial services in Scotland for the next five years.  To provide research and facilitate the production of the strategy, the HLSG has engaged a standing team for three months.  This is staffed by secondees from industry, academia and the public sector and supported by a team from PwC.  Further Details and contact points can be found at HLSG

HR Forum – CMS have kindly agreed to take over the secretariat work for the HR Forum. The next HR Forum will take place on13 June. Any SFE members who wish to join the HR forum should contact CMSEmployment.Team@cms-cmck.com

Sector Policy Groups – our SPGs bring members together from the different sectors of our industry to discuss current issues. We have SPGs for asset management, professional services, and private client investment management. Each group has a co-ordinator from one of our professional services members. If you would like to join any of these groups, please contact the relevant SPG co-ordinator.
