Opportunities for students
School Work Experience via the PRIME Commitment
Shepherd and Wedderburn is a founding member of PRIME, an alliance focused on improving access to, and socio-economic diversity within, the legal profession. Through this initiative the firm offers a number of work placements to 16 to 18–year-olds who have an interest in building a career within the legal industry.
The one-week long placement is a great opportunity for students to gain insight into working in the industry by attending information sessions and work shadowing lawyers and business services colleagues.
Students also undertake recruitment preparation training to learn CV writing, interviewing and presentation skills. Previous PRIME students shared their experiences of placements at the firm in this short video.
This opportunity is available in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow and London. For more information about eligibility for this programme, please read the PRIME Qualifying Criteria. Click here to find out more about Shepherd and Wedderburn’s PRIME experience and how to apply.

Insight Evenings are student events run by Shepherd and Wedderburn to give aspiring lawyers a closer look at what the firm does and the opportunities available for students throughout their time at university. These events provide a fantastic opportunity to network with current trainees, solicitors and also the Graduate Team to find out more about the firm’s recruitment processes.
First/second year and first-year accelerated LLB students are eligible to attend these events. 2022 Insight Evenings are now being scheduled for the first quarter of 2022, with dates are still to be confirmed. If you would like to be informed of confirmed dates, please sign up to the Insight Evenings mailing list.
