VSO & Volunteer Scotland Event - International Corporate Volunteering
Breakfast Briefing: International Corporate Volunteering
Venue: Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PQ
VSO and Volunteer Scotland invite you to find out more about employee volunteering at our International Corporate Volunteering event on 15th November.
Employer supported volunteering (ESV) has recently taken the spotlight across the UK and at Volunteer Scotland, we’ve seen a change in the motivations, understanding and practice of employers and employee volunteers. VSO’s Knowledge Exchange programme has also been developed to facilitate skills-based corporate volunteering for private sector and development partners.
VSO is the leading international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty. It is at the forefront of collaboration with the private sector, creating partnerships with Accenture, Citibank, IBM, Mondelēz, Shell, Randstad and Syngenta. VSO develops shared value partnerships, utilising the skills of corporate volunteers and returning employees with leadership skills and the ability to innovate to find solutions.
Volunteer Scotland is the national body for volunteering in Scotland. We work with organisations to develop new approaches to volunteering to effectively support volunteers and measure the impact of volunteering. Our work on employer supported volunteering involves coordination of a national best practice group, including employers such as SSE, ScotRail and Prudential, bringing employers and the voluntary sector together to ensure ESV opportunities are effective for all involved. We offer the UK quality standard Investing in Volunteers for Employers to recognise good practice in employee volunteering.
"Through volunteering with VSO, our people are offered an opportunity to share their skills where they are most needed, whilst also developing their own capabilities."
