Independent Investment Management Initiative Members joins forces with Scottish Financial Enterprise

The Independent Investment Management Initiative (IIMI) and Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) have announced that they have joined forces to expand SFE’s representation of Scotland-based boutiques, enabling these firms to contribute directly to the implementation of SFE’s asset management strategy. The collaboration marks a significant milestone, strengthening the voice of independent investment managers in Scotland’s financial ecosystem.

The announcement follows SFE's launch of its asset management strategy in May, a sector identified as a key driver for wider growth.

The IIMI will join the SFE membership with the relationship enabling the IIMI, the largest organisation representing independent investment management boutiques globally, and their members to contribute to the sector’s strategic growth.

The most recent Global Financial Centres Index rankings placed Edinburgh 29th and Glasgow 32nd with SFE’s growth strategy aiming to further enhance Scotland's position as a leading global financial centre.

Dani Hristova, CEO at IIMI, said: We are really pleased to have established this new relationship with SFE as part of our ongoing commitment to amplifying the voice of our members in Scotland. IIMI represents some of the most entrepreneurial investment boutiques in the country - firms with a deep heritage in Scotland and a strong commitment to both their sector and the broader Scottish economy.

“Joining SFE enables our members to contribute meaningfully to policy, regulatory, and commercial initiatives across Scotland, including the execution of SFE’s asset management strategy. We’re excited to support this work and believe the relationship further strengthens SFE’s ability to represent the full breadth and diversity of Scotland’s asset management industry.”

Sandy Begbie CBE, Chief Executive Officer at Scottish Financial Enterprise, said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with the Independent Investment Management Initiative, which will strengthen our collective ability to champion Scotland's financial sector. The IIMI represents a crucial part of the UK's investment landscape, and their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to drive forward our ambitious strategy for growth. This collaboration underscores our commitment to representing the full breadth of the financial services sector in Scotland."

Founded in 2010, the IIMI counts amongst its 56 members some of the world’s leading specialistinvestment firms, overseeing around $500bn in client assets and representing over 3,000 members of staff.
