Operational Risk
“Operational risk is a common challenge across our industry. Our aim is to bring professionals together to exchange perspectives, strengthen networks, and develop practical approaches to managing the evolving risks that shape our sector.”
Chair: Samantha Croll, BlackRock
Objective
Establish a network of risk professionals in Scotland focused on operational risk. It will also support SFE’s strategic initiatives and delivery of the growth strategy.
Strategic Focus
Building a strong network of operational risk professionals across Scotland’s financial services sector.
Understanding the risks of AI adoption through multiple lenses: operational, regulatory, consumer, reputational and governance.
Encouraging firms to share case studies and learn from each other’s experience.
Bringing in external perspectives, including regulators such as the FCA, to inform the group’s thinking.
2026 Strategic Delivery
Initial focus is on establishing the group and on the risks associated with AI adoption.
Activity
In addition to the usual matters involved in establishing a group, its main strategic focus is the adoption of AI across member firms.
This work looks through a number of different risk lenses, including operational, regulatory, consumer, reputational and governance. It involves firms exchanging case studies and inviting relevant guest speakers, for example the FCA.
