Objective

To support and strengthen Scotland’s credit union sector, recognising its important role in financial inclusion, community resilience and providing access to fair and affordable financial services.

  • Championing the role of credit unions in improving financial inclusion and financial resilience across Scotland.

  • Supporting the long-term sustainability, growth and modernisation of the sector.

  • Promoting access to fair, affordable and community-based financial products and services.

  • Sharing good practice on governance, regulation, technology and customer service.

  • Exploring opportunities for collaboration and innovation across Scotland’s credit union network.

  • Ensuring the experience and perspective of credit unions are reflected in wider industry and policy discussions.

Activity - NEEDS TO BE REMOVED

Stood up the Fraud and Cyber Security workstream, led by Derek Johnstone, Scottish Building Society, who will feed in regular updates to the Banking Steering Group.

Schools Banking Pilot, a strategic deliverable under the CCN strategy, will launch in June with financial literacy accredited modules delivered alongside the opening of a bank account. This will be repeated in December with the intention of a roll-out across Scotland.

Advice/Guidance roundtable with Burness Paull.

Working in collaboration with the Wealth Management Group and Life & Pensions Group on advice/guidance regulation and targeted support.


Group Scope

  • Provide a forum for Scotland’s credit unions to discuss shared priorities and challenges.

  • Encourage collaboration and the sharing of insight and good practice.

  • Promote the contribution credit unions make to communities and the wider Scottish economy.

  • Support SFE’s work on financial inclusion, customer resilience and economic growth.

  • Provide value for participating members.
