This event, delivered by the SFE Young Professionals Mental Health & Wellbeing Workstream in partnership with Burness Paull, will explore the realities of being an unpaid carer and the challenges that can come with balancing caring responsibilities alongside working life.
VOCAL will open the session by looking at what it means to be an unpaid carer, some of the common misconceptions around caring, the challenges carers can face in the workplace, and the practical and financial support available to those who find themselves taking on a caring role.
This will be followed by a legal panel discussion featuring lawyers from Burness Paull and Brodies, exploring carers’ rights in the workplace and other areas where caring responsibilities can have legal implications, including Powers of Attorney. The session will finish with an opportunity for questions, reflection and informal discussion.
