Performing Under Pressure (Edinburgh): Building Focus, Resilience & Execution When It Matters Most

  • Addleshaw Goddard 24 Saint Andrew Square Edinburgh, Scotland, EH2 1AF United Kingdom (map)

Performance under pressure impacts individuals at every level of an organisation. Pressure itself is personal, it is relative to the individual experiencing it, and so too are their responses. Pressure intensifies as expectations, scrutiny, and consequences become more defined or intense, whether through delivery deadlines, internal pressures, or client outcomes.

The ability to recognise and manage these effects becomes critical. While skillsets and capability remain high, performance and outcomes can deteriorate quickly under pressure. The ability to recognise this, not only in yourself, but across peers, teams, and direct reports, is what enables consistent delivery in high-pressure environments. This session is designed to address that directly.

Led by Stuart, this highly interactive workshop combines performance coaching principles with the Gazing methodology, a structured approach to developing real-time awareness, control, and presence under pressure.

Pressure itself cannot be removed. However, the ability to manage it, and perform consistently within it is a skill that can be learned and developed. Rather than focusing on managing stress after the fact, Gazing trains individuals to recognise and regulate their internal state in the moment, enabling clearer thinking, better decisions, and more consistent execution when it matters most. These methodologies are used in elite professional sport, where outcomes are decided under pressure and public scrutiny, and are increasingly being applied in commercial and leadership environments where the stakes are equally high.

This session reframes pressure, not simply as something to manage, but as something to understand at an individual level, and ultimately leverage as a source of focus, energy, and performance advantage. Participants will leave with practical tools to maintain clarity, composure, and control in high-pressure situations, both individually and across their teams, improving delivery, decision-making, and overall performance.
