Sharing Data for Good: Panel Session for Data Leaders in Financial Services

  • Edinburgh Future Institute - Room 2.55 1 Lauriston Place Edinburgh, Scotland, EH3 9EF United Kingdom (map)

Hosted by Sandy Begbie, CEO of SFE, this event brings together senior leaders from finance, policy, academia, and civil society to explore how financial data can be used to deliver social, economic, and environmental good — while protecting privacy and trust.

The UK’s data landscape is evolving rapidly with the introduction of the Data (Use and Access) Act and the expansion of Smart Data initiatives. Through a series of lightning talks and an expert panel discussion, participants will examine the opportunities and challenges of responsible data sharing, the practical implications of this new legislation, and frameworks for secure and ethical access.

This session will showcase real-world impact, demonstrate trusted security models, and highlight how collaboration across sectors can turn the UK’s data ambitions into outcomes that benefit citizens, businesses, and communities.
