Arlene Stokes appointed chair of SFE’s Gender Equality Network

SFE is pleased to announce that Arlene Stokes, Chief People Officer at Aegon UK, has been appointed as chair of its Gender Equality Network. Based in Edinburgh, Arlene has held senior leadership roles across people and transformation in financial services and other sectors. 

In her role, Arlene leads Aegon UK’s people and culture agenda, with responsibility for  HR, colleague communications and community strategy. She is also focused on enabling colleagues to make a positive contribution in the communities they support.  

Arlene takes over as chair from Jackie Leiper, former SFE Deputy Chair and Chief Customer and Distribution Officer at Lloyds Banking Group. Jackie has been a driving force behind the group, and we would like to thank her for her time in as chair.   

Sandy Begbie, CEO of SFE, said: “I would like to thank Jackie for her time, effort and commitment during her time as chair of our Gender Equality Network. Her expertise and leadership have been instrumental to the group.  

“We welcome Arlene as chair at a pivotal time as, SFE celebrates its 40th anniversary. Over that time, we have seen a transformation in gender equality across our industry, but we know there is more that must be done. I look forward to working with Arlene to continue to help drive this change.” 

On her appointment Arlene said: “I’m proud to chair SFE’s Gender Equality Network as SFE marks its 40th anniversary, and to build on the strong foundations Jackie has helped create. Gender equality matters across our industry because everyone should have the opportunity to contribute, to progress and be heard. I’m looking forward to working with members to share ideas, learn from each other and help build a more equal and inclusive future.”
